What is the European Singles Retreat (ESR)?

The ESR is a Christian weekend retreat held twice a year, in April and September, at Gemünden, Germany . It's an uplifting weekend where people from different countries and nationalities come together to learn from God's word and to fellowship. For more information about the upcoming retreat, check out our 'Next ESR' page, and for information on the location and how to get there, check out our 'Helpful info' page.

Who is the ESR for?

This event is for EVERYONE who is 18 or older*, and not married**, who wants to be spiritually encouraged / have fun in a Christian environment. So join us if your status is: Dating - In a (complicated) relationship - Divorced - Widowed - Engaged - Just single 
* Under 18's may attend as long as they bring along a legal guardian or an adult with a letter of permission to make the medical decisions in case of a medical emergency (required by German law) 
** Married people may only attend if they are willing to serve in some way (for example if they cook or lead the lessons for the weekend)



Why should you come?

Our mission is to promote spiritual growth, fellowship, encouragement, and lifelong friendships. 

At every stage in life a Christian has different needs, responsibilities and challenges. The life of the unmarried Christian is significantly different from that of a married Christian. The ESR gives the single Christian, young and old, the opportunity to share with / learn from other Christians with similar lifestyles. Though once in a while someone meets his/her future spouse at the ESR, it is not our goal to serve as a match making service for single Christians who are looking for a mate. 

Activities include: Bible lessons, Group studies, Bonfires, Sports, Nature walks, Singing, Games, Praying, and of course Free time.

Have you ever considered going to the European Single’s Retreat? Stop considering and go! This is one of the best places I have ever been, with some of the best people I have met. 

I have had the pleasure and privilege to teach once or twice at this retreat. The people who come to this retreat are people who want to have Christ in their lives. They want to know how to live completely for their Lord. And they are willing to listen and learn. This is one of the things that so thrilled me when I was there. How exciting it is to see people who really love the Lord – not just in name, but in their daily actions.

The topics that are brought up at this retreat are things that everyone has to deal with. What excites me about this group is that the topics, the relationships, the times together are so well-balanced. Life can be serious, but it can also be great! Christians know that and can show it too. That’s what happens at a Single’s Retreat. They have a great time, laughing together, having fun, deepening relationships. And throughout all, the reason and the focus is Jesus Christ.
